Microsoft announced that next month they will release Age of Empires 2 HD Edition, an updated version of RTS developed by Ensemble Studios.
Developed by Hidden Path Entertainment, Age of Empires 2 HD Edition comes with an improved engine that supports resolutions up to 1920 × 1080 pixels and allows the use of improved textures and lighting effects.
Age of Empires 2 HD Edition will also include the single-player campaign from Age of Kings and The Conquerors expansion. The game will also benefit from the Steamworks suite that provides rankings, matchmaking, cloud support and achievements.
Age of Empires 2 HD Edition will be released exclusively through Steam and will be playable from April 9.
